Shakeyra Mason is a visual artist from the island of Jamaica. Growing up she recalls drawing her favorite TV characters as they ran across the screen. Art runs through her veins. It is an extension of who she is.  It describes, fuels, motivates and moves her. She is passionately pursuing a career as a visual artist. Her desire is to create art that is not only beautiful, but inspires others to pursue their dreams. Shakeyra finds inspiration from almost everything around her, whether it be the shape of a vase, the colors of the sunset, or a warm smile on the face of a stranger. She truly believes that inspiration comes from God and can be found in all His beautiful creations. With no formal training Shakeyra has been commissioned to perform artistically in a number of different means. Some of which include; face painting for AMA's Bike Safety event in 2014 and 2015. Wall displays and various signs for Bethel United Church. Speed painting for auction on behalf of Showers of Blessing Church, Calgary. Also on an individual basis creating logos, portraits, sketches, t-shirt design and wall design. She has also been featured in From the Root Zine, art/literature magazine, in both Body and Hair edition.
